i ran the furthest i’ve run in a long time today

and was so proud of how good i felt afterwards…until i just stood up and could barely move! tomorrow should be interesting.

i must admit though, it’s a pretty amazing process to feel your body get into shape. little weekly victories, which will ultimately lead to an incredible 26.2 result. can’t believe it’s really happening.

brighton, here i come!

It doesn’t matter how slow you go, as long as you don’t stop!

Confucius

i have so many bad memories of cross-training for swimming when i was little and ALWAYS rounding out the pack, way way in the back. i could rule the pool, but just didn’t do well on land. i’m still slow, but who cares?  bet you i can run further…

My husband once said that my running pace is the same as his fast walk. It’s true. I am slow. Like reaaaal slow. So slow that running with the dogs is hard because they look back at me with faces that say “really, mom? this is so lame!” But that’s my pace for now. Maybe someday I’ll get more comfortable with this title called runner and I’ll recover from the trauma my dad caused when he told me I run like a duck when I was younger and playing softball. But for now I’m just slow. And Confucius says…that’s okay!

frequently asked question: how do you get out of bed every morning and go for a run or walk? similar but the not the same as twyla: the moment i open the door to starbucks i have completed the ritual. the ritual happens at the beginning of a walk or the end of a run. knowing that it will eventually happen is what matters. in other words, i pay starbucks $4 every morning to be there no matter what. they were closed during hurricane irene. i forgave them. but i still went for a run. get after it.

OMG

i think i might have just signed up for a MARATHON!!!

can i really do this?!????

eeeeeek.

I’ve been on a workout kick this week and am feeling a bit like this.  Too bad I didn’t run any marathons - though 2.5 miles can still make me feel like this when I’m getting back into running shape (I’m awful!).  I have to admit, it’s a good pain though.

I’m gonna keep it up.
